Hyderabad: The BRS on Thursday said Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy‘s company was operating crushing units without mandatory permissions at an allegedly illegal quarry in Manasa Hills of Kotwalguda village near Rajendranagar. A fact-finding committee of the BRS leaders, who visited the quarry site, demanded immediate seizure of the crushing unit.
The BRS delegation comprising MLC Dasoju Sravan, general secretary RS Praveen Kumar and other senior leaders, demanded that Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy resign from the Cabinet. They also sought strict action against officials responsible for the operations.
Sravan said the crushers were being operated by Raghava Constructions, belonging to Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s son, in Survey numbers 66–69 of Kotwalguda village, close to the Outer Ring Road, without clearances from relevant departments. He demanded an immediate investigation and urged the government to recover the revenue lost through illegal extraction of metal and stone.
Praveen Kumar said the Congress government was failing to curb illegal mining activities near Shamshabad and said crushers were functioning in violation of regulations. He questioned the silence of officials despite the scale of operations, and demanded accountability.
BRS leader Manne Krishank stated that a container bearing the name of Raghava Constructions at the site had its markings removed and repainted overnight ahead of their visit in an attempt to conceal the company’s identity at the quarry. Stating that Congress leaders could not hide large-scale quarrying at Manasa Hills by vacating the area and repainting containers at the site, he called for a thorough probe into the crusher mafia and sought immediate action against those involved.
BRS leader P Karthik Reddy said quarrying activities were taking place within areas governed by GO 111 restrictions near Shamshabad, where construction permissions had historically been restricted.
