Rajanna-Sircilla: BRS Vemulawada constituency in-charge Chalmeda Lakshmi Narasimha Rao has demanded action against officials responsible for the death of bulls (kodelu) at the Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple goshala.

Speaking to reporters in Vemulawada on Sunday, he said the kodelu died due to negligence of officials and questioned why the local MLA and government whip Adi Srinivas did not react to the death of the bulls.

He said sixty kodelu were reportedly given to a person following a recommendation from Minister Konda Surekha. He stated that the distribution process of kodelu to farmers was stalled after the bulls given for agricultural purposes were allegedly misused by the beneficiary.

Since the distribution of bulls to poor farmers has been in suspension for the last six months, the strength of kodelu in the temple’s goshala has risen to 1200 as against its capacity of 500 cattle.

The BRS leader said that a veterinary doctor has confirmed that the kodelu had died due to lack of sufficient fodder for the cattle at the goshala. He further said that even though the temple was getting Rs. 22 crore revenue through the kodemokkulu ritual, the authorities were unable to provide even fodder to the cattle.

Rao suggested the State government to establish a new goshala on 50 acres of land and take all necessary steps to protect the kodelu from dying. He also warned the government of launching an agitation if more kodelu died due to starvation.
