Siddipet: Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy on Wednesday said the BRS would take the fight on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) to the public court to expose what he termed the Congress government’s lies.

The BRS, under his leadership, launched a ‘Chalo Mallanna Sagar’ programme after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy decided to hand over the KLIP case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

As part of the programme, the cadre performed Palabhisekham to the portraits of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and former Minister T Harish Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Prabhakar Reddy asserted that KLIP was not confined to Medigadda barrage alone. “There are multiple reservoirs, barrages, lifts, pumps, canals and distributors, built with an outlay of Rs. 90,000 crore. The Medigadda barrage alone was constructed with a budget of Rs. 4,000 crore,” he said.

Accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation, he claimed that only two pillars of the Medigadda barrage were damaged, while several districts continued to receive irrigation and drinking water through the project. He further alleged that many irrigation projects constructed during the Congress regimes had also suffered damage over the years.

BRS leaders J Ram Reddy, K Harikrishna Reddy, Bhompally Manohar Rao, Rajamouli and others took part in the programme.
