Hyderabad: Coming down heavily on the Congress government, BRS leader and former minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy accusing it of abandoning election pledges and plunging the State into economic chaos after just 23 months in power.
Flanked by BRS MLAs Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Mutha Gopal, and former MLA Balka Suman, Reddy urged the public to reject the ruling party’s “arbitrary rule” in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election.
He said Rahul Gandhi tours the country with the Constitution in his hand, but in Telangana Congress acts as if “what they think is law, what they do is law”. He highlighted unfulfilled promises from the 2023 elections, where Sonia Gandhi, Rahul, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, and Siddaramaiah rallied crowds with declarations for BCs, SCs, STs, minorities, youth, and farmers.
Pointing out major betrayals, he said the promise of 200,000 jobs annually and Rs 4,000 monthly unemployment allowance too have vanished into thin air.
“Priyanka Gandhi had promised Rs 10 lakh interest-free loans to youth, but she did not bother about the state afterwards” Reddy quipped. Rahul Gandhi’s assurances to unemployed protesters in Ashok Nagar were dismissed, with lathis now silencing demonstrations.
The Warangal farmers’ declaration— which had vowed loan waivers—lies forgotten, alongside Rs 1,154 crore in pending paddy procurement bonuses. “No minister dares speak on grain purchases as accountability remains absent,” he fumed.
On social welfare, Reddy decried the shelving of the Dalit Bandhu scheme, despite Kharge’s vow to enhance it to Rs 12 lakh under “Ambedkar Abhaya Hastham.” He pointed out that Kharge himself flagged Congress failures during a visit, yet no local leader rebutted it.
The BRS leader contrasted this with KCR’s decade-long tenure, which elevated Telangana to a place of national pride in development through vision and discipline. “Data across sectors proves it. Now, in 23 months, Congress has bankrupted us economically and morally,” Reddy asserted, pointing to IAS officers resigning amid ministerial harassment.
He said IAS officer Rizvi’s voluntary retirement, triggered by a minister’s “ego-driven pressures,” calling it a “slap to uncultured leaders.”
