Hyderabad: BRSV State vice president Thunga Balu on Sunday criticised the Congress government for ignoring the unemployed and demanded an increase in the upper age limit for government jobs from 44 to 46 years. He also sought the continuation of GO No 30, which provided age relaxation.

In a statement, Balu said the government was playing with the lives of government job aspirants by delaying recruitment notifications and using the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) as a pretext. He said nearly 30 lakh unemployed youth across Telangana were preparing for government jobs, but had seen no notifications even after two-and-a-half years of the Congress government.

He cited a recent TGPSC notification for 20 Assistant Scientist posts in the Pollution Control Board, which fixed the upper age limit at 34 years. “Earlier, eligibility was extended up to 44 years. Reducing it by 10 years is unjust,” he said, adding that such changes would deprive aspirants of opportunities.
