Chennai: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared director Krish Jagarlamudi’s eagerly awaited action thriller Ghaati, starring Anushka Shetty and Vikram Prabhu, with a U/A certificate.
UV Creations, which is producing the film, posted on X: “Sheelavathi will have a legendary reign over the box office. It is U/A for #Ghaati. Get ready for a riveting tale on the big screens. GRAND RELEASE WORLDWIDE ON 5th SEPTEMBER 2025. Starring ‘The Queen’ @MsAnushkaShetty & @iamVikramPrabhu. Directed by the phenomenal @DirKrish. Proudly produced by @UV_Creations and @FirstFrame_Ent. Music by @NagavelliV. Music on @adityamusic.”
The film has generated huge expectations, further heightened by its recently released trailer. The trailer shows Anushka Shetty and Vikram Prabhu as a couple in love, living in the ghats. The impoverished locals, called “ghaatis,” are exploited by smugglers to transport ganja across borders. Looked down upon and told not to dream of doing business themselves, the ghaatis remain trapped. The trailer hints that Vikram Prabhu plays a dispensary or hospital worker, while Anushka starts off as a bus conductor. After marriage, the couple takes it upon themselves to fight for justice for the oppressed ghaatis.
Initially slated for release on July 11, Ghaati will now hit theatres worldwide on September 5.
Presented by UV Creations and produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi, the film marks Anushka’s second collaboration with Krish after their blockbuster Vedam, and her fourth with UV Creations. Vikram Prabhu plays the character Desi Raju and revealed he lost eight kilos to prepare for the role.
The tagline “Victim, Criminal, Legend” hints at a gripping narrative exploring the thin line between morality, survival, and justice.
Cinematographer Manojh Reddy Katasani has crafted the visual palette of the film, while Nagavelli Vidya Sagar has composed its intense score. The art direction is by National Award winner Thota Tharani, editing by Chanakya Reddy Toorupu and Venkat N Swamy, and dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra.
Ghaati promises an intense cinematic journey into human conflict, survival, and redemption.
