Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday announced an immediate financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the families of those who died and Rs 50,000 for the injured in the reactor blast incident at Pashamylaram.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Cabinet colleagues including Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, inspected the blast site and reviewed the situation.
“This is not compensation, but immediate assistance to the families,” the Chief Minister told officials during the visit. He directed that quality treatment be extended to the injured and assured that the State government would bear the full cost of treatment if necessary. He also announced that the children of the deceased would be provided admissions in government residential schools.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister enquired with the Factories Department about the frequency and effectiveness of their periodical inspections of industrial units. He instructed officials to submit a detailed report on the incident and to rope in experts from various sectors to conduct comprehensive inspections of all factories in the region. The goal, he said, was to identify deficiencies and lapses in adherence to safety norms. A detailed report on these inspections was also sought.
Emphasising the urgency of coordinated efforts, Revanth Reddy directed all line departments to expedite rescue and relief operations. “Locating bodies, clearing debris, and ensuring safety is a challenge. All departments must work together and proceed carefully,” he said.
Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu expressed strong displeasure over the absence of the company’s top management during the inspection. Addressing the company representatives at the site, he said, “It is such a fatal incident and your top management is absent. If they are so busy with other work, why should they set up factories?”
