Hyderabad: Delhi Public School, Nacharam celebrated library week from November 22 to 30. Special assemblies were conducted at all levels, to apprise students of the significance of the library week and to promote the reading habits among the students.
Students attended the assemblies both in physical and virtual mode.
Award-winning authors and storytellers including Aparna Athreya, Deepa Aggarwal, Sonia Duggal, Nupur Aggarwal and Vanitha Ramchandani, glorified as the honoured dignitaries.
The first of its kind events commenced with a prayer song followed by thought for the day and a new word. A poem on libraries enraptured the audience. Fascinating facts on books and authors and a talk on the importance of the books, dance and songs on books, character walk and monologues kept the audience spellbound.
A short ingenious skit on how libraries offer endless opportunities to accentuate education and lifelong learning, whether in physical or virtual mode entranced the audience. A multitude of activities was crafted on the digital library platform to motivate children towards reading books. ‘DEAR’ time was observed and made a way through the pages of the books and all the events witnessed the zeal and enthusiasm of the students.
Chief guests spoke about the prominent role books play in sculpting an individual’s personality. Storytellers graced the occasion with their presence in the storytelling.
Principal Sunitha Rao further apprised the students with nifty tips to boost reading habits in children. A solemn oath was administered by all the children displaying their allegiance to the practice of reading books and enhancing their knowledge.
The educative assemblies were conducted by the students under the able guidance of librarians with the support of the principal and all the heads and in-charges.
The library week was concluded with the book fair organised by the school. Children got an opportunity to explore the latest book titles with a new collection.
