There is a paradigm shift from offline to online schooling. The schools and institutions probed into design thinking to face the challenge.
Design thinking and online classrooms
Design thinking is defined as strategic processes typically a problem-solving approach that involves empathy, represent ideate, prototype and test to reach out the needs, state the problem, create ideas, develop and try out the solutions respectively. It is the art and heart of the design process of creative solutions and redesigns based on feedback. Hence it is a cyclic series of processes to derive a feasible outcome.
Design thinking is embedded in pedagogical models as an essential part of teaching and learning transactions. The policies of education advocate curriculum to be learner-centric and reach out to classrooms to give ample learning space. Came the pandemic, educators collaborated to redesign classrooms to bring about virtual learning with design thinking.
Schools have been involved in conducting various orientation programs, workshops and training courses for teachers to equip them to handle various digital tools and applications.
They have come up with novel approaches of design adapting to the curriculum, implementing them in the classrooms, developing methods of assessments and evaluations and redesign to suit the requirements. Teachers armed with the knowledge and skills of digital apparatus are empowering the students to face the challenges and enhance education. Education-driven technologies serve as the ray of hope to propagate online classroom sessions.
