DICCI to train 15,000 in enterpreneurs
To set up business facilitation centres across India

Hyderabad: The Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), a business chamber that works for economic empowerment of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), has a set a target to support 15,000 take up entrepreneurship in the coming two years.
This would focus exclusively on bringing 5,000 into the entrepreneurship fold, said Narra Ravi Kumar, its recently elected national president.
Addressing the media here Monday, Kumar said DICCI will also focus on setting up 23 business facilitation centres across the country to add to the existing seven. These will act as nodal centres in disseminating the information and will also help candidates with idea validation, finance options, market assessment, forging partnerships and marketing efforts and others.
DICCI has about 10,000 members and these have so far created about 70,000 jobs. “We are working to enable the youth look at entrepreneurship. Traditionally, the SC and ST community has been dependent on Governments for jobs. Now, we want to say they can be job givers and not seekers. We are driving this mindset change,” he said.
Citing an example of Telangana, he said it launched a joint initiative with Telangana Government in June 2017 for adoption of technology in sewer cleaning system by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
“We have met with good success. These machines have put an end to manual scavenging and have also created local employment. They aided in reduced complaints from citizens as the work is taken up on a preventive basis. They also increased efficiency of civic bodies in upkeep of municipalities has also increased,” he said adding that it also launched a similar initiative in Delhi with 200 specially-designed sewer cleaning machines.
New avenues
DICCI is now goading its members to look at plastic and food clusters and detailed project reports are being made for these, Kumar said adding that it will also look at the franchise model to expand into retail trade like super markets.
