Doctors, engineers outshine Commerce graduates in TG LAWCET 2026
Doctors and engineers registered a higher success rate than commerce graduates in the Telangana Law Common Entrance Test (TG LAWCET) 2026, underscoring growing interest in law courses among professionals.

Hyderabad: Doctors and engineers recorded a higher qualifying percentage in the Telangana Law Common Entrance Test (TG LAWCET) 2026 than Commerce graduates, reflecting a huge demand for the LLB programme among professionals with medicine and technical expertise in the State.
The TG LAWCET 2026 results for the three-year law degree course declared on Thursday showed that 92 percent out of 101 doctors and 82 percent out of 87,465 engineers qualifying the test.
In comparison, 11,923 B Com graduates appeared and 70.4 percent were able to clear the examination. Individuals with degrees in 23 different streams, including BUMS, BArch, MBBS, BDS, B Pharmacy, BFA, BSc, and BA took the test.
This time, the admissions test for the three-year law degree course attracted applications from teens to sexagenarians and septuagenarians. As many as 3,416 candidates aged between 16-22 years appeared and 2,476 qualified.
Further, 425 candidates aged 60 years and above sat for the test and 348 cleared it. Similarly, 21 out of 30 sexagenarians and above aged candidates qualified in five-year law degree programmes.
Overall, the LAWCET and PGLCET results recorded a qualifying percentage of 72.96. A total of 38,261 candidates appeared and 29,327 (76.65 percent) cleared the LAWCET (three-year law degree course).
As for LAWCET (five-year law degree courses), 11,520 students appeared and 6,073 (52.72 percent) qualified. Similarly, 93.03 percent out of 4,593 candidates qualified in the PGLCET declared qualified.
Meesala Vijayadurga of Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh, Alluri Sanith Reddy of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, and Sheguri Nishitha of Rangareddy district topped LAWCET three-year law degree, LAWCET five-year law degree and PGLCET respectively.
Results declared by TGCHE Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy, along with Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. M Kumar and TG LAWCET & PGLCET 2026 convener Prof. B Vijayalaxmi, have been made available on the website https://lawcet.tgche.ac.in.
Prof. Balakista Reddy said a total of 34 colleges, with 24 private, and 10 university and government-run institutions, offered law programmes during the academic year 2025-26.
Of the total, 29 colleges offered the three-year law degree course with 6,512 intake and 26 colleges offered the five-year law degree course with 2,177 seats. Similarly, 1,095 LLM seats were up for grabs in 23 law colleges.
More or less the same number of seats will be available for admissions for the academic year 2026-27, Prof. Reddy said, adding that efforts are on to advance the law admission counselling schedule by at least one month.
