Emotional wellness of children vital for learning, development
A special Assembly was conducted by grades 9 to 12 on November 27.

Emotions play an integral role in communication and the formation of relationships. Children learn to embrace their emotional state by realizing that it is normal and ok to feel the way they do. It’s our job to give them opportunities to label their feelings correctly.
Delhi Public School, Nacharam celebrated the Health and Wellness Week based on the theme: ‘Emotions are the language of the soul’ from November 24 to 28 at different levels across the school.
Principal Sunitha S Rao inaugurated one-of-its-kind initiatives by the school counselling team on November 24. Week-long special assemblies and activities explored a range of feelings and expressions meaningfully.
Grade I to IV students expressed their emotions in the form of drawing through Emotions Mask, My Emotion Wheel and poster presentation about various facial expressions. Grade V and VI students presented in the form of story narration. Grade 7 and 8 students expressed their feelings and emotions through roleplays and discussion.
A special Assembly was conducted by grades 9 to 12 on November 27. Special guest Dr. Anil K Saxena, an eminent psychologist, counsellor and trainer from National Police Academy delivered a motivational speech to the students, teachers and parents.
Addressing the students, Principal Sunitha Rao said that emotions and understanding their forms in different contexts are highly important in a teen’s development. She reiterated that emotions when integrated with values play a crucial and positive role in helping students deal with stress, develop relationships, and handle the transitions.
Senior Vice-Principal Nandita Sunkara and Secondary Vice-Principal Renu Ghalawat addressed the students and congratulated the team of counsellors, special educators and career counsellors. Rishita, the head of the Department delivered a vote of thanks urging the parents to create a time with their children where the family can just discuss their emotions without any judgement or prejudice.
