The Minister participated in a programme where NSUI leaders joined TRS in Huzurabad constituency
Huzurabad: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Sunday accused BJP leader Eatala Rajender of trying to buy votes by distributing wall clocks among the electorate. “It is up to the voters whether they want to sell their votes,” he said.
Referring to the case of Huzurabad resident Srinivas, who refused to take the wall clock gift presented by BJP leaders, he said that was a display of real self-respect. The Minister made these comments while participating in a programme where NSUI leaders joined TRS.
Pointing out that police used to arrest student leaders and put them behind bars whenever there Rajender toured Huzurabad constituency, he said the former Minister registered cases against students from weaker sections and put them in jails. To put an end to that practice, it was necessary to elect a TRS candidate in Huzurabad by-polls, he said.
Commenting on the self-respect mantra of the BJP leader, the Minister said Rajender had pledged the self-respect of Huzurabad people and Telangana in Delhi. “It is Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who has enhanced the self-respect of Telangana,” he said.
Stating that Ambedkar provided reservations in the Constitution for the uplift of weaker sections, the Minister said the Union government, however, was trying to abolish reservations and privatise public sector undertakings. Weaker sections are unable to get jobs because of the Centre’s policies, he said, and asked the people to grill Rajender on the issue.
The Chief Minister, he said, would soon release notification to fill 60,000 vacant jobs in the State. Moreover, the State Cabinet has already decided to fill all vacancies every year, he said.
“Did Rajender, who claims himself to be a BC, ask the Central government for jobs to BCs and a separate BC Ministry?” he questioned, and added that he joined the BJP with the sole purpose of protecting his properties. “This election would change the face of Huzurabad. Sircilla, Siddipet and Karimnagar were developed on all fronts. However, Rajender neglected Huzurabad,” he said.
Besides 24 hours power supply, agriculture lands were supplied adequate water through Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, he said and wanted the people to question Rajender as to how many hours power was being supplied in Gujarat.
