Collector Sikta Patnaik inspects a polling station in Adilabad on Wednesday

Adilabad: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the conduct of polls to Adilabad Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) on Dec 10. The seat is going to see elections for the first time in the recent history of the district.

Eight polling stations have been created for helping electors to cast their first priority votes. The stations were arranged in Adilabad, Utnoor, Mancherial, Bellampalli, Nirmal, Bhainsa, Asifabad and Kaghaznagar towns. Polling material was handed over to staffers of polling on Wednesday. A total of 937 voters will utilise their franchise. While females account for 510 votes, 427 are male voters.

While TRS has fielded Dande Vittal for the seat, Pendur Pushparani is in the fray as an Independent.

Incidentally, Adilabad LAC seat had not witnessed elections for quite a long time. Candidates were elected unanimously. About 90 percent of electors are participating in the polls for the first time. It is feared that they may not cast the votes accurately. As per the guidelines, they should use pens to tick their priority to the candidates in the ballot.

Meanwhile, Collector Sikta Patnaik inspected the arrangements at a polling station in Adilabad district headquarters on Wednesday. She instructed the officials concerned to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls. She advised them to make alternate arrangements if there was an outage of electricity. She asked them to provide drinking water and other basic amenities to voters.

Adilabad Revenue Divisional Officer Rajeshwar, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ganapathi, District Health and Medical Officer Dr Narender, Municipal commissioner Shailaja, SC Corporation executive director Shankar, Tahsildar Bhojanna and many other officials were present.
