Elevated BRTS project in Hyderabad this year
Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister KT Rama Rao shared the Action Plan for the Year 2021-22 as part of releasing the MAUD's annual report here on Friday.
Hyderabad: The Telangana government under its initiative to develop urban transportation system in the city, is planning to take up the Elevated Bus Rapid Transit System (Metro Neo) project on the KPHB – Financial District – Kokapet corridor under Public Private Partnership mode during the year.
Similarly, for the convenience of pedestrians, HMDA has taken up construction of Skywalks at Mehdipatnam and Uppal which are aimed to be completed by end of November this year. The Uppal Skywalk work is taken up with an estimated cost of Rs 25.00 crores, while the Mehdipatnam Skywalk is taken up with an estimated cost of Rs. 36.80 crores. The works at both sites, are in progress.

According top priority to ensure free flow of rain water and avoid flooding in the city, the State government is planning to execute 49 works, including widening the existing drains, setting up new drains etc under 15 packages with an estimated cost of Rs. 858.32 crore under Strategic Nala Development Program (SNDP) during the financial year 2021-2022.
Efforts are on to develop 2,067 tree parks (Pattana Prakruthi Vanalu) in the ULBs and development of Multi-Layered Avenue Plantation along 400 km of roads in ULBs during the year. Under solid waste management initiatives, plans have drawn to complete bio-mining of 35.50 lakhs metric tonnes of garbage. This apart, Bio-mining of legacy waste in Warangal has already commenced and will be commissioned in the middle of this year.
Similarly, plans are afoot to establish waste processing plants in 130 ULBs and to complete Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs ) in 47 ULBs. Targets have been set to finalise tenders for FSTPs in 68 new ULBs.
Further, Water Supply Schemes in 38 ULBS costing Rs 1,433 crore are slated to be completed during 2021– 22. Integrated vegetable and meat markets as well as Vaikuntadhamams being developed with Rs 700 crore in all ULBs, are proposed to be completed this year.
HMDA has taken up Automated Drip Irrigation system at a cost of Rs 47 crore replacing the existing tank-based system on median and avenues along the ORR. This system is cost effective i.e saving up to Rs 36.64 crores in seven years and has minimal manual intervention, uniform distribution of water throughout the year. It will also ensure sustainable and environment friendly, timely and effective watering to plants, periodic effective dispensing of fertilizers to plants etc.
It has been proposed to take up ‘Widening of Existing Service Roads of Outer Ring Road from Nanakramguda to TSPA and Narsingi to Kollur’.
HMDA has proposed to take up development of Eco-Park at Kothwalguda near Himayatsagar in an area of 85 acres. The salient features of the park consists of Aquatic Bird Park, Aviary, Butterfly Park, Amphi Theatre, Rural Huts, Food Courts, Sculpture Park, Mountain Biking Tracks with landscape and greenery.
A green-field township district at Neopolis Kokapet is being developed. Government is arranging for the latest infrastructure and it is expected that once developed, this will provide employment to about a million people in next 5 -7 years.
