Hyderabad: After facing embarrassment in the Assembly, the Congress government on Tuesday removed the Comprehensive Household Survey 2014 report from the official government website of Dr Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resources Development (MCRHRD) Institute.
The previous BRS government had made the survey report publicly accessible for the last 10 years. The CHS report became a key issue during discussions on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s statement regarding the Social, Economic, Employment, Education, Political, and Caste Survey-2024 in the Assembly.
Opposition MLAs from BRS and BJP questioned the authenticity of the new survey, citing discrepancies when compared to the CHS report. However, rather than addressing the concerns, Revanth Reddy repeatedly claimed that the CHS report was never made public by the previous BRS government and could not be used for comparison.
BRS working president and former Minister KT Rama Rao swiftly countered him, asserting that the CHS report was officially conducted by the then BRS government, made public, and uploaded on the MCRHRD website. “Many of the State government’s welfare schemes were planned based on this data,” he said.
But as the heated debate continued in the Assembly, the Congress government quietly removed the CHS report from the MCRHRD portal – a move seen as an attempt to discredit the previous BRS government and prevent more embarrassment for the Chief Minister who faced a tough time defending the new survey.
Taking a swipe, KT Rama Rao mocked the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on social media, posting on X, “Well done Telangana CMO. What a fantastic performance.”
However, the BRS social media wing had the last laugh. Anticipating such a move, they had created a backup of the 73-page CHS report using the Internet Archive, ensuring it remains accessible despite the government’s takedown.
Former Telangana Digital Media director Dileep Konatham exposed the Congress government’s attempt, sharing the archive link on X and stating, “We knew you would resort to such cheap tricks. Here is the archive link of the Samagra Kutumba Survey high-level details presentation.”
