Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police have registered a criminal case against Mohsin Khan, son of former IPS officer and Hyderabad Police Commissioner, AK Khan, following allegations of cheating, criminal intimidation and assault made by a film producer over an investment-related dispute.
According to the complaint, Venkata Anish Reddy, who has been producing the film Maharagni for more than two years, approached Mohsin Khan and Tabrez while looking for investors for the project. The complainant said he met the duo at the Sunlit Group office in Prashasan Nagar in Jubilee Hills.
Anish Reddy has alleged that in August 2025, Mohsin assured him that he would introduce potential investors for the film and collected Rs 25 lakh for the purpose. He further claimed that Tabrez received another Rs 25 lakh in three installments on the same promise. Despite receiving a total of Rs 50 lakh, the suspects allegedly failed to arrange any investors or refund the money.
The complainant further stated that whenever he sought an update or demanded the return of his money, the accused allegedly continued to delay the matter with different explanations.
According to the complaint, on July 1, Anish Reddy visited the Sunlit Group office to demand either the promised investors or a refund. He alleged that Mohsin took him into a room, threatened him and physically restrained him. He further claimed that bouncers present at the office intimidated him by displaying weapons and assaulted him, while Mohsin allegedly punched him. Tabrez was also allegedly involved in the incident through a phone call with Mohsin during the confrontation. Police have booked Mohsin Khan, Tabrez and others and taken up investigation.
Mohsin Khan is also the son-in-law of senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
The police are examining the allegations and are expected to record statements from the accused and other witnesses as part of the investigation.
