Family of brain-dead farmer from Mahabubnagar donates organs through Jeevandan initiative

On December 1, farmer Vallapu Malliah suffered severe injuries in a two-wheeler accident and was declared brain dead on December 8. His wife, Vallapu Yadamma, gave consent for organ donation. Surgeons successfully retrieved five organs, including the liver, two kidneys, and two corneas, which were then allocated to patients in need following organ donation guidelines.

Hyderabad: Family members of a 51-year-old farmer, Vallapu Malliah, a resident of Mucharlapalli, Midjil mandal, Mahabubnagar, who was declared brain dead by attending team of doctors, have given consent to donate the organs of the deceased as part of the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On December 1, the farmer sustained grievous injuries in an accident while riding his two-wheeler and was declared as brain dead on December 8.


The wife of the farmer Vallapu Yadamma gave consent to donate the organs of the brain dead victim. The surgeons retrieved liver, kidneys (2) and corneas (2), overall 5 organs, and allocated them to needy patients under organ donation guidelines.
