Hyderabad: Distribution of amount under Rythu Bandhu farm investment support scheme continued for the sixth consecutive day in its eighth phase. On Tuesday, authorities deposited Rs 512.26 crore directly into the bank accounts of 1.91 lakh farmers. Till date, around 59.51 lakh farmers received Rs 5,806.35 crore during the ongoing Yasangi (Rabi) season.
In a statement, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao turned agriculture sector, which was termed as good-for-nothing profession in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, into a profit-making occupation for farmers by successfully implementing Rythu Bandhu. As a result, not only farmers returned to agriculture, but many people especially young professionals from other fields started taking up farming as a passion and also as a profession.
“Around 63 lakh farmers’ families covering nearly 2.5 crore population of the State, are directly benefiting from the scheme following its successful implementation. With the strengthening of agriculture sector, the face of villages as well as rural economy has been changed forever,” the Minister said. He reminded that though the Coronavirus has brought the entire world economy to its knees, Telangana survived the crisis as the State government has been promoting agriculture operations as the top most priority and Rythu Bandhu scheme has been a major backbone for its success.
Meanwhile, the week-long celebrations of Rythu Bandhu reaching the milestone of distribution of Rs 50,000 crore are in full swing across the State. Farmers along with TRS cadre are organising celebrations at village junctions, farm fields and other places. They poured milk and performed ‘Abhishekam’ to the portrait of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in Mahabubnagar, Peddapalli and Hanamkonda districts. Farmers arranged paddy saplings in the agricultural fields of Mahabubabad and mirchi crop in Khammam market yard to thank the Chief Minister for Rythu Bandhu.
In several other villages across the State, the TRS cadre took out bullock cart rallies and also organised rangoli, essay writing and elocution competitions. The celebrations will continue till January 10.
