Nalgonda: A fisherman drowned in the Nagarjuna Sagar tail pond at Adavidevulapally in Nalgonda district on Monday.
The victim was identified as Nakka Vijay (30), a native of Chityal in Adavidevulapally mandal. He went into the reservoir for fishing and drowned in the water due to heavy flow due to the lifting of gates of Nagarjuna Sagar Project. Adavidevulapally police rushed to the place and fished out the body with the help of locals.
The body was shifted to the area hospital of Miryalaguda for autopsy.
The officials already alerted the fishermen and the people not to go into Krishna river in downstream areas of NSP in view of the lifting of the gates.
