Forest officials rescue langurs from rice mills in Jagtial
Forest officials in Jagtial seized two langurs illegally confined in rice mills at Kodimial following a complaint by animal welfare activist Mudavath Preethi of the Stray Animal Foundation of India. Inspections at Chamundi Rice Industries and Dattasai Rice Industry led to the rescue.

Jagtial: Forest officials have seized two langurs which were illegally confined in two rice mills in Kodimial. Based on the complaint by animal welfare activist and member of an NGO, the Stray Animal Foundation of India, Mudavath Preethi, forest officials conducted inspections in Chamundi Rice Industries and Dattasai Rice Industry and seized langurs.
Investigation revealed that a person from Andhra Pradesh, Srinu was illegally transporting langurs from AP to Telangana and selling them. Langurs are a protected species under Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and their capture, transport, sale, or confinement is a serious offence.
On the other hand, animal welfare activist Adulapuram Goutham submitted a complaint to the District Collector demanding the immediate arrest of the main accused involved in the illegal wildlife trafficking.
