Warangal Urban: To ensure proper treatment to Covid-19 patients, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had issued orders to release required funds to all the primary health centres, community health centres and other state-run hospitals in erstwhile Warangal district, said Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao here on Monday.
Addressing a review meeting on the Covid situation with the officials concerned here, Dayakar Rao said 800 beds are ready for Covid patients at MGM Hospital in Warangal. “While there are 650 oxygen beds, 80 are ventilator beds,” he said, adding that all the PHCs would soon get the required facilities to treat Covid patients.
The Minister also urged doctors and people to cooperate with the government in combating the virus. He directed officials to take immediate steps to recruit doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and lab technicians and instructed Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu to appoint a committee to look into the requirement of Covid beds at government and private hospitals.
Dayakar Rao said a helpline, 7901618231, was set up at MGMH to provide details about the availability of beds. “The State government has released Rs 8 crore for providing facilities at KMC Super Specialty Hospital established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) to provide treatment to non-Covid patients. The Chief Minister has directed officials to take measures for appointing 363 doctors and other staff within 15 days,” he added.
The Minister also said the Warangal Central Jail would be shifted to Dharmasagar on the outskirts of the Warangal city by finishing the construction of a new prison within a year. “A state-of-the-art super-speciality hospital will be set up on the 76-acre site in the city,” he added.
