Hyderabad: The Congress government’s initiative, the Gandhi Sarovar Project, as part of the Musi Riverfront Development, is causing concern over buffer zone norms among builders and realtors developing villas and gated community housing schemes along the Musi River in Bandlaguda Jagir and Kismatpura.
Developers and builders are constructing villas and duplex houses within a buffer zone of nine metres from the Musi riverbed, according to those involved in the projects.
Following the initiation of the Gandhi Sarovar Project and the land requirement for it, revenue authorities have extended the buffer zone limit up to 50 metres, affecting the Madhu Park Ridge apartment complex.
At Kismatpura, where the Musi River passes, a builder is constructing 120 villas and duplex houses. “Some villas have already been sold, and customers are continuing to visit the area,” an in-charge of the project said.
The Gandhi Sarovar Project is likely to have an impact on gated community housing projects, he added. A realtor said confusion had also emerged as revenue authorities have not officially announced the buffer zone fixed for the project.
