Hyderabad: The lunch for delegates participating in the plenary session of the TRS at Hitex on Monday was an impressive spread that included Hyderabad’s popular chicken biryani and double-ka-meetha with ice-cream for dessert. The fare won appreciation from all the delegates who attended the plenary.
The cadre relished 36 food items, mostly non-vegetarian dishes like ‘boti’ fry, chicken and mutton curries, mutton shorba, ragi sankati, and rumali and jowar roti. Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao was entrusted the responsibility to ensure a gastronomical delight for the participants.
Rao, who is presently observing Ayyappa Swamy deeksha, roped in as many as 300 cooks to prepare the food for over 10,000 delegates apart from over 7,000 police and gunmen of VIPs. Arrangements were also made to have a buffer of the dishes in case of shortage.
To avoid inconvenience to the delegates, Rao and his team allocated separate halls for men, women, VIPs and media persons. The arrangements were made in such a manner that the volunteers could coordinate among themselves through walkie-talkies to refill empty bowls and serve food without any interruption.
Once a volunteer gets a message of a dish getting over, another volunteer was deputed to the hall to refill the bowls immediately with the dish. “We made the arrangements to serve food in a hassle-free manner,” Rao said. Disposable plates with tissue papers and mini packaged drinking water bottles were also provided in food section for the delegates’ convenience.
Rao said the cooks started preparing food from Sunday midnight, and was constantly monitoring the arrangements in each hall and gave suggestions to volunteers.
Heading the food section is nothing new for Rao, who had undertaken similar responsibility when he was in TDP in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
