Hyderabad: The special vaccination drive being held for people falling under the high-risk category will continue till June 11.
On Monday, 35,120 persons were administered with free vaccines in 31 centres located in the GHMC limits. As a part of the massive vaccination drive, GHMC officials were asked to visit public places and enrol people falling under high-risk groups who are eligible for the free jab.
Persons working in grocery shops, Rythu Bazaars, grocery shops, salon shops, laundry service, pan shops, markets (vegetable, fruits, flowers, chicken, meat and fish) as well as street vendors were categorised as high-risk groups.
The initial plan of the GHMC was to administer a vaccine to 3.1 lakh people within 10 days. As the target could not reached due to various reasons, the civic body decided to extend the drive.
To make sure only the people under the high-risk category are vaccinated as a part of the special drive, GHMC has switched to e-coupons. When the drive started, physical coupons were distributed by staffers working in the civic body’s sanitation wing and Urban Community development wing.
