Ginnedhari shivers at 5.4 degrees Celsius, coldest in Telangana

Minimum temperatures in parts of erstwhile Adilabad district dipped to the season’s lowest, with Ginnedhari recording 5.4 degrees Celsius. IMD-Hyderabad extended severe cold wave warnings to 12 districts till December 14

Adilabad: Minimum temperatures in several parts of erstwhile Adilabad district dipped to a record low on Thursday.

According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, Ginnedhari village in Tiryani mandal saw the lowest minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius in Telangana, while Arli (T) village in Bheempur mandal of Adilabad district recorded 6.1 degrees Celsius. Pembi mandal centre in Nirmal district experienced a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius, while Devulawada village in Mancherial’s Kotapalli recorded 8.1 degrees Celsius.


Meanwhile, severe cold wave warning, with minimum temperatures below normal by 3 degrees Celsius and 4 degrees Celsius at various locations, has been issued by IMD-Hyderabad for 12 districts in Telangana till December 14.

The IMD-Hyderabad which earlier issued cold wave warnings to eight districts has broadened its forecast by releasing a cold wave alert for 12 districts including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Mahbubabad, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy.

Minimum temperatures in districts which have received severe cold wave alert will range from 5 degrees Celsius to 11 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures in the remaining districts of Telangana are expected to hover between 11 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius.
