Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy on Tuesday instructed officials concerned to give paramount importance to implementation of Palle and Pattana Pragati and Telanganaku Harita Haram programmes.
He was addressing an awareness meeting over Palle-Pattana Pragati and Telanganaku Haritha Haram (THH) for Mandal Parishad Presidents and sarpanches here.
Pointing out that no State was implementing such innovative programmes, Indrakaran said the government was releasing funds to take up works under the programmes every month. He asked the officials to strive hard to increase greenery and to execute relevant works by involving locals.
The Minister warned that action would be taken against officials and public representatives who show laxity in implementing the programmes. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will come on surprise visits to towns and villages. He will appreciate officials and elected representatives if he is satisfied with the quality of the works. Otherwise, he will take action against the errant authorities,” he stated.
Indrakaran expressed satisfaction over 100 percent achievement of progress in works relating to Palle Pragati. He said that villages across the district recorded 100 percent dumping yards and crematoriums, besides enhancing green cover. By contrast, urban civic bodies are yet to make a difference, he remarked. Concerned officials and public representatives must work hard for creating parks, he added.
The minister advised the officials to expedite works of crematoriums without compromising on the quality of works. He stressed the need to create awareness among citizens over segregation of dry and wet waste. He wanted the authorities to take steps for constructing compost sheds.
Indrakaran suggested farmers to buy seeds at authorized stores and to collect receipts of their transactions. He said that the government was cracking down on the menace of spurious seeds. He stated that offenders were being booked under the Preventive Detention Act. He requested farmers not to fall prey to traders who sell fake seeds.
The minister further instructed the officials concerned to take steps to ensure 85 percent of survival rate of saplings to be planted under the forthcoming massive plantation drive, THH. He said that municipal authorities, Panchayat Raj secretaries and Sarpanch should take the responsibility of conserving the saplings as per amended Municipal and Panchayat Raj Acts. He told them to water saplings using tankers available in villages.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson K Vijayalaxmi, Collector Musharraf Ali Faruqui, Nirmal municipal chairperson Gandrath Eshwar, DRDO Venkateshwarlu, DPO Venkateshwar Rao and many other officials were present.
