A multi-storied building illegally constructed in survey number 42 is being demolished in Naspur mandal centre recently.
Mancherial: Valuable government land situated in survey number 42 in Naspur mandal centre continues to be occupied even as officials take steps to protect it.
As many as 102 acres of land is located in the survey number. A portion of land was assigned to financially weak families, while 28 acres was earmarked to TNGOs. The remaining land is being encroached upon by some persons who enjoy the support of various political parties. Officials had issued notices to the occupants.
With the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) abutting the survey number, the price of the land around it has gone up. The land is priced around Rs.5 crore per acre here. Realtors are purchasing the lands around the survey number. They are allegedly occupying pieces of the land in the survey number and developing projects and selling house sites to potential buyers.
For instance, a realtor purchased four acres of land in survey number 40/a and 40/aa in 2005. However, he divided the property into plots measuring 200 sq yards and sold it to buyers. He then gifted the 4 acres to his wife. Many wondered as to how he could gift the asset after selling plots. The realtor reportedly occupied 2 acres of land.
Incidentally, the multi-storied building which was demolished by officials of Naspur municipality recently was located in the SN 42. Locals allege that at least seven acres of the land in SN 42 were occupied in recent times and asked officials to take steps to prevent the encroachment of the government land, which could be used for future needs.
“Notices were slapped against 60 persons who encroached upon land in survey number 42 two years back. A few of them provided documents supporting ownership, while a major portion of them did not respond to the notices so far. Action will be taken against illegal occupants after verifying documents,” Naspur Municipal Commissioner Srikanth said.
