Hyderabad: The Forest Department will take up a survey from September 1 to 15 to check the survival rate of saplings planted as part of Haritha Haram during the last two years in the State.
As part of the survey, officials will focus on ascertaining details on how many saplings were planted in a particular area during the last two years, their survival rate, current height and replacement of dead saplings.
The exercise will also include a survey of saplings planted by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development and Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments under the aegis of the Forest Department.
Special Chief Secretary (Forests) A Shanthi Kumari held a video conference with all District Collectors on Monday to discuss the modalities for taking up the survey. It was decided to appoint a committee led by District Forest Officer and one official representing the other two departments.
The committee will check the saplings planted in 2019 and 2020 and will cover block, linear and scattered plantations as part of the survey. It will be taken up as per the instructions issued by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao during the last District Collector’s Conference held in Hyderabad.
While planting the saplings, the departments had geotagged the areas and the details were uploaded on the TGFMIS website. The survey would be taken up based on these details, she said.
“The survey will aid in reviewing the results of Haritha Haram besides drawing up plans for future exercises,” Shanthi Kumari said.
