Hyderabad: Witnessing the stellar star cast of Khushbu, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Urvashi, Kalyani Natarajan, and Jhansi, among others, on the sets of ‘Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu’, Rashmika Mandanna couldn’t imagine her luck of working with the powerhouse of talent.
“Watching them all left me spellbound. I could not literally imagine all their roles fitting in one frame; it’s a feast, of course. Their grace, their continuous chatter would lighten up the film sets each day. But when they call for action, they just become those characters on-screen. It’s an experience of shock for me. How do they do it? They’ve been in the industry for so long, it is so easy for all these women to switch to their reel characters and again come back as if nothing has happened,” says the ‘Pushpa’ actor.
Family entertainer
As the fun-filled family entertainer is all set to hit the screens this Friday, Rashmika caught up with reporters in the city to share her “sweet moments” and takeaways from this commercial potboiler. “The film is all women. That’s how director Kishore Tirumala had visualised the story, you know! It’s a conversational film, it’s not that I mouth a serious dialogue and someone takes the turn to add a punchline, no! Everyone gets to speak in, say a voice comes from a sister-in-law working in the verandah… then the sister in the family interrupts her to make her statement. It’s a conversational story besides adding that ‘mass’ tinge to it. It was so organic and natural writing,” shares Rashmika.
The actor rubbishes the rumours doing the circles that she has been dominating everyone on the sets. “I was just a spectator during the shoot. Watching and observing everyone keenly was my every day routine,” she says.
Switching from her role of Srivalli in ‘Pushpa’ to Aadhya in ‘Aadavallu Meeku Joharlu’ was not a strenuous one. “It would have been difficult, if I was doing roles that are similar (whether it is ‘Aadavallu…’ or ‘Bheeshma’), then it would have been hard to switch into these roles. Here I play Aadhya, a straight-forward girl, who gets her traits mostly from mother Vakula (played by Khushbu).”
Rashmika says Sharwanand was the most sweetest co-star. “Whenever I was complaining about the food, he would get mouth-watering dishes from home and feed all of us,” she says, adding, “I feel like torturing all my co-actors in the films. Taunt or tease them because of situations in the story,” she laughs.
Takeaways from superwomen
Rashmika has major takeaways working with superwomen on the ‘Aadavallu…’ film sets. “My takeaways from all these women include — how to behave on a film set and how to present yourself before the audiences. I’ve to tell you that I’ve been treating everyone the same — be it the cast or my fans. All the technicians and co-actors and juniors are enamored by the grace of Khushbu. Such a beautiful lady, we would just end up staring at her. The way she carries herself and talks to people! One should learn to be like her. She plays the role of my mother in the film and I can’t describe in words what an honour it was working with her,” she concludes.
