Free water supply scheme: Link Aadhaar to full avail benefit
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Tuesday stated that unless Aadhaar for all the units (flats) are linked, full rebate for the 20 KL free water supply scheme is not applicable for apartments.
A press release issued today said that HMWSSB encourages all flats/units to register for the scheme and link Aadhaar to avail full benefit of the scheme. For the connections which linked their Aadhaar and fixed functioning meters on or before April 30, rebate was extended from December 2020 to April 2021 and they will be eligible for free water in future too.
For connections registered on or after May 1, water bills from December 1 to April 30 were issued and from May 1, a monthly bill was generated.
HMWSSB also clarified that the scheme was in force even after April 30 and consumers can still register for the scheme by linking Aadhaar and fixing functional meters. For such connections, rebate will be extended prospectively after linking Aadhaar and fixing functional meters.
Under the free drinking water scheme for Hyderabad, 2.5 lakh households with water meters and 2 lakh slum households will receive free 20,000 litres per month.
