Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) made elaborate arrangements for devotees during Ganesh idol immersions held on Saturday.
The Water Board set up 123 special drinking water camps and arranged facilities at 72 baby ponds across the city for immersions. Water camps were also made available along the Ganesh procession routes, including Tank Bund and Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat. In all, 3.5 million water packets were distributed, a release from the Water Board said.
Depending on the crowd size, drinking water camps were operated for 24 to 48 hours in different areas. Officials were instructed to remain vigilant for the next 72 hours and conduct regular chlorine level checks, the release added.
The Water Board also deployed sewer jetting machines to manage sewage overflow in procession areas. Preventive maintenance measures were taken up to avoid water leakages and sewage overflows along all Ganesh immersion procession routes, officials said.
