Hyderabad: In two major anti-drug operations, the Task Force and local police seized 24.956 litres of hash oil worth Rs 3.12 crore and arrested five alleged drug peddlers and two consumers at Erragadda and Jubilee Hills on Sunday.
In the first operation, Task Force (Jubilee Hills) and Borabanda Police arrested Lasangi Yakobu alias Venkat and Yendrapalli Suri Babu in Erragadda and seized 23.706 litres of hash oil worth Rs 2.96 crore and two mobile phones.
According to police, Yakobu, an auto driver from Andhra Pradesh, was previously arrested in a marijuana transportation case in 2016 and was also absconding in an NDPS case registered at Borabanda police station in 2025.
Officials said the duo allegedly procured the hash oil from suppliers linked to Odisha, transported it to Hyderabad by train, and were waiting to board a bus to Bengaluru to deliver the consignment when they were intercepted.
In the second operation, Task Force (Secunderabad) and Jubilee Hills Police arrested B Chinnayya Padal, P Bharath Kumar, and Mohd Shoaib, besides detaining consumers B Kalyan Teja and T Uday Kumar at Jubilee Hills Road No 10.
Police seized 1.250 litres of hash oil worth Rs 16 lakh, including 75 small containers and a bike. A suspect identified as Lobby, believed to be the main supplier from Odisha, is absconding.
Officials said Bharath Kumar and Shoaib allegedly procured hash oil from Chinnayya Padal, repackaged it into small containers, and sold it in Hyderabad for huge profits. Bharath Kumar is also reported to have previous involvement in 18 property offences, while Kalyan Teja has an earlier NDPS case.
