Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Saturday said the establishment of the Investigation Monitoring Cell (IMC) has significantly strengthened criminal investigations and contributed to a steady rise in conviction rates across the city.
According to the Commissioner, the IMC closely monitors investigations from the initial stages, and guides investigating officers in collecting scientific, digital and forensic evidence while ensuring legal procedures are carefully followed. The cell gives priority to cases involving women and children, particularly those registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Sajjanar said that during the past six months, Hyderabad City Police secured convictions in 2,469 cases, including one death sentence, 12 life imprisonment sentences and 18 cases that resulted in rigorous imprisonment of more than 20 years.
The city police chief added that the city police would continue to leverage scientific investigation, advanced technology and effective coordination between investigators and prosecutors to improve conviction rates and ensure justice for victims.
