Hyderabad: Continuous rains in the upstream areas have caused floodwaters to flow into the twin reservoirs of Himayatsagar and Osmansagar. Consequently, Water Board officials lifted one out of the 17 floodgates of the Himayatsagar Reservoir on Thursday at 10 pm.

The officials released 339 cusecs of surplus water through the floodgate into the Musi River. “One floodgate of the reservoir has been raised by one foot to release floodwaters downstream. Currently, Himayatsagar has an inflow of 1000 cusecs and an outflow of 339 cusecs,” according to an official release.
