Hyderabad: Two men sacrifice lives to save children and woman in Nampally fire accident
Two men, Mohammed Imtiyaz and Habeeb Quadri, died while attempting to rescue two children and a woman trapped in Hyderabad’s Bacha Furniture Building fire. The blaze spread rapidly, and thick smoke prevented them from escaping. Police confirmed their heroic actions.
Hyderabad: Two people lost their lives during their brave attempt to rescue the two children and a woman who were trapped inside the Bacha Furniture Building on Saturday.
Mohammed Imtiyaz (28) worked at the shop for around 15 years, while the other victim, Mohd Habeeb Quadri, an auto driver, worked in the market for nearly three decades.
Imtiyaz’s brother, Mohd Raheem, said Imtiyaz had come out of the building on noticing the fire, but went back on coming to know that some persons were trapped in the building. “First time, he went inside and brought three people out of the building. However, he too got trapped in the fire and smoke when he again went inside the building to rescue the two children,” said Raheem.
Imtiyaz, a resident of Subhanpura, Aghapura, was married around three years ago. He left behind two daughters, the eldest aged around two years. At his house, the family, including his wife, wept inconsolably as the body arrived, even as the daughters remained quiet and lost.
Mohd Habeebuddin Quadri had ventured into the building to rescue the trapped persons along with Imtiyaz, but he too failed to come out in time. The fire had spread rapidly and thick smoke prevented them from finding a way to come out.
Habeeb worked as an auto rickshaw driver and stayed along with his family, comprising his wife and children, at Mustafanagar, Shastripuram. He worked at the furniture shop for the last three decades and delivered the furniture to the customers.
The police in their records had stated that Imtiyaz and Habeeb had gone inside to save Akhil, Pranith and Bebi, who stayed in the rooms constructed in the cellar.
