Hyderabad: Major relief was provided to lakhs of consumers as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) resumed all online consumer services after a three-day interruption.
The HMWSSB general manager, D Sai Krishna, told Telangana Today, “The experts from Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Telangana have resolved technical glitches. All the consumer services, including tanker booking and delivery systems, complaints registration, ‘Metro Customer Care’ (MCC), and 20 other online services, resumed as usual.”
Hundreds of tanker bookings piled up in all O&M Divisions over the past three days due to a technical issue in HMWSSB’s database center. As a result, we have increased tanker trips to reduce the backlog of bookings, said a senior HMWSSB official.
Officials are claiming that the water board revenue remained stable despite technical glitches. “Technical glitches did not significantly affect the Water Board’s revenue,” officials said. More than 90 percent of consumers are paying their monthly water bills, which are scheduled to commence in the second week of each month.
An official announced that the technical issue had been resolved, allowing online billing services to resume. “Luckily, the technical issue was resolved, and online billing services resumed,” added the official.
Meanwhile, the Water Board officials are also planning to adopt an alternate system in case similar disruptions due to technical issues may occur in the future.
