Mancherial: Major irrigation projects in the district received copious inflows following rains in upstream areas from Thursday night to Friday morning. Road connectivity was affected in some remote parts.

According to a bulletin released by authorities of the Irrigation department, Sripada Yellampalli project at Gudipet village in Hajipur mandal recorded inflows by 15,660 cusecs. As a result, the water level reached 144.66 meters as against the total storage capacity of 148 meters. Surplus water of 18,900 cusecs was released from the project. Many other projects had inflows.

Incidentally, Mancherial district received an average rainfall of 38.5 mm. Tandur mandal witnessed the highest rainfall by 85 mm, followed by Vemanapalli which registered 60 mm of rainfall. A temporary bridge built across a stream near Gorlapalli village in Vemanapalli mandal was washed away following heavy rains, isolating many villages of this mandal.

Meanwhile, the average rainfall of Kumram Bheem Asifabad was gauged to be 49 mm. Dahegaon mandal had the highest rainfall by 107 mm. Penchikalpet mandal and Lingapur mandal saw 96 mm and 77 mm respectively. Hilly streams and rivulets were swelled, submerging low-level bridges and hitting connectivity of interior parts.
