Hyderabad: BRS senior leader and former Minister G Jagadish Reddy charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with losing control over governance and failing to deliver on the promises made to the people. He demanded that the Chief Minister step down and hand over power to someone more capable within the Congress ranks if he could not govern effectively.
“Whenever questioned about his failures, Revanth Reddy reacts impatiently, asking them to rule the State and resolve the issues themselves. If he truly means it, let him resign. There are leaders like Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mahesh Kumar Goud, R. Krishnaiah as well as Manda Krishna Madiga who can perform better than him,” he advised.
Countering the Chief Minister’s remarks at the ‘Meet the Press’ programme on Sunday, Jagadish Reddy ridiculed him for hosting an event at a star hotel instead of the Press Club of Hyderabad as was the practice.
“That interaction was full of false claims and self-praise,” he remarked.
He dismissed the Chief Minister’s claims of providing 60,000 jobs and turning RTC into a Rs 7,000 crore profit-making entity. “If that is true, why are unemployed youth campaigning against the Congress in Jubilee Hills?” he asked, alleging that Revanth Reddy had diverted Rs 30,000 crore of public funds for personal gain.
The BRS MLA flayed the Chief Minister’s attempt to credit Hyderabad’s progress to former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy, as well as Revanth Reddy himself.
“Those leaders had their eras, but Revanth Reddy has neither their stature nor vision,” he said, also questioning the Chief Minister’s sudden affection for the late P Janardhan Reddy.
“If he loved PJR so much, why did he deny his son a ticket? The Congress itself finished PJR’s political legacy.” he added.
Condemning Revanth Reddy’s personal attacks on BRS leaders, Jagadish Reddy said if the Chief Minister wanted to discuss familial matters, he should first explain why his family skipped his elder brother’s son’s wedding. He stated that Telangana’s progress under Chandrashekhar Rao was reversed under Revanth Reddy’s rule.
