Jagtial woman files police complaint against parents for forced separation from husband

A woman from Palakurthi, who married a resident of Rajakkapalli against her parents’ wishes, alleged an attempted abduction by her family. The incident occurred during a hospital visit, where her father and a relative tried to forcibly take her away. Priyanka resisted and later filed a complaint with Yedapalli police, prompting an investigation into the matter.

Jagtial: Parents of a woman, who married against their wishes, allegedly made an unsuccessful attempt to kidnap her and the kindapping incident came to light after the woman lodged a complaint against her parents.

Police said Marri Rakesh who hailed from Rajakkapalli village and Priyanka from Palakurthi fell in love six years ago and decided to get married. However, the woman’s parents did not agree to the proposal.

But Priyanka and Rakesh got married with the support of the latter’s family members on July 27. After a few days, Priyanka’s mother reportedly spoke to her on phone and patched up.

After Priyanka became pregnant two months ago, her mother called on her and enquired about her visit to the hospital. When she and her mother-in-law went to the hospital, Priyanka’s mother took her mother-in-law aside, while her father and another relative tried to forcibly take her away. Priyanka told the police that she resisted and managed to reach her in-law’s village.

On Wednesday, she lodged a complaint with Yedapalli police against her mother, father and brother-in-law. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and began an investigation.
