Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and Congress government over the 400-acre Kancha Gachibowli land row, BRS leader and whip KP Vivekananda on Saturday accused the government of being embroiled in a massive Rs 10,000-crore land scam.
He alleged that the Congress government was resorting to intimidation tactics against BRS working president KT Rama Rao for exposing their alleged corruption.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, Vivekananda alleged that the Congress government had sold off valuable land in the Kancha Gachhibowli area and now Revanth Reddy and his administration were attempting to cover up the financial irregularities through contradictory statements. He said Rama Rao had presented irrefutable evidence that left Congress leaders speechless.
“The government is now neck-deep in this mess,” Vivekananda said, adding that TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud was holding out threats to imprison Rama Rao. He dismissed Goud as a “dummy PCC president” who lacked proper understanding of facts.
The BRS leader threw down the gauntlet challenging Goud to an open debate on the issue and demanded that Revanth Reddy be present to answer questions.
Vivekananda accused the government of mortgaging land worth Rs 10,000 crore and diverting the funds to contractors, leaving farmers in the lurch as they awaited their promised Rythu Bharosa payments.
Vivekananda hinted at a broader political conspiracy, alleging a “Congress-BJP coalition” at play in Telangana. He vowed to soon reveal the name of a BJP MP allegedly linked to the land scam.
Taking aim at Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan, whom he referred to as a “super CM,” Vivekananda questioned whether she was justifying or correcting Revanth Reddy’s ill-advised decisions.
Drawing a sharp contrast between the current administration and that of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Vivekananda highlighted the BRS chief’s efforts to protect the State’s assets, such as securing 17,000 acres for Pharma City.
He accused Revanth Reddy of misusing these lands for real estate deals, undermining the State’s development.
Reaffirming BRS’ commitment to pursuing the matter legally, Vivekananda stated: “We will not let this go. We will approach the courts and demand a white paper on the issue.”
He revealed that KT Rama Rao had already written to several agencies seeking an investigation and urged TPCC president Goud to do the same.
