Khammam: BRS MLC raises alarm over rising crime, law and order deterioration
BRS MLC Tata Madhusudhan has raised serious concerns over rising crime and lawlessness in Khammam. He alleged rampant thefts, ganja trade, misuse of police for ministers’ protocol, and called on authorities and ministers to take responsibility before public outrage escalates
Khammam: BRS district president and MLC Tata Madhusudhan said on Wednesday that people in Khammam district were living in fear as law and order had deteriorated and anti-social activities had increased.
“Even with three ministers in the district, people’s property, lives, and honour are at risk like never before. Families cannot go shopping freely, fearing thieves might snatch their jewellery,” he said.
Speaking to the media, Madhusudhan recalled that Singareni employees were robbed at Sathupally a few days ago, and on Tuesday, thieves targeted residents at Bommarillu Apartments in Khammam. He also alleged that the ganja trade has become rampant in the Gopalapuram area.
CCTV footage showing thieves roaming in colonies where ministers reside had gone viral. Hotels in Khammam have reportedly become dens for anti-social elements, serving as centres for gambling, ganja, and drugs, Madhusudhan added.
He claimed that police personnel were occupied entirely with ministers’ protocol duties, leaving little time to maintain law and order. Many employees and police officers allegedly complained that ministers used abusive language when interacting with them.
Employee union leaders were reportedly unable to raise their issues, and Madhusudhan urged ministers not to act brutally toward staff. He also alleged that some police stations had become centres for illegal real estate settlements involving officers.
“Concerned authorities should take action against erring officials before public outrage escalates. Those accountable to the people appear to be complicit in looting. District authorities and ministers must take responsibility,” the BRS leader demanded.
BRS leaders K Nagabhushanam, Pagadala Nagaraju, Bellam Venugopal, U Brahmayya, Maqbool, Qamar, Bommera Ramamurthy, U Venkataramana, and others were present.
