Khammam Two Wheelers Mechanics Association, a decade old tale of cooperation
Formed in 2015 with 15 members, the Khammam Two Wheelers Mechanics Association now has 270 members and has spent ₹11 lakh on welfare. It offers financial aid for education, health, marriages, and emergencies, and plans to build a permanent office.

Khammam: No one knows the strength of unity than the members of Khammam Two Wheelers Mechanics Association as unity stands as a core value that unites them.
The association is formed not just to fight for their rights but also to care for each other associated with it. Formed in 2015 with just 15 members, the association has around 270 mechanics in Khammam city as its members at present.
Even though not well versed with cooperative principles the association leaders strive to extend support when the members are in need of it. The members contribute Rs 200 to the common fund every month and in case of emergency special contributions would be made.
An amount, fixed for each purpose, would be spent on the educational needs of mechanics’ children, for their children’s marriage, in case of medical emergency and others. Speaking to Telangana Today, the association president Vangala Kondal Rao informed that the association so far spent nearly Rs 11 lakh on the welfare of over 100 members and their families.
He said that the association has now started offering an assistance of Rs 10, 000 if the wife of any mechanic dies. Assistance offered to family in case of a mechanic’s death has been increased to Rs 40, 000 from Rs 30, 000, which was given in the past.
Similarly, financial assistance given for the girl child’s marriage has been increased to Rs 10, 000 from Rs 5000 and in case of a fire accident in any mechanic shop the assistance given has been increased to Rs 30, 000 from Rs 20,000, Kondal Rao said.
He informed that an IAS officer Muzammil Khan, when he was serving as the district Collector in Khammam, visited the association office and appreciated the activities of the association for the welfare of the members.
Sometime back a house plot worth Rs 10 lakh was bought in the association’s name for future needs. There are plans to build a permanent association building in Khammam city, Kondal Rao said while appealing to the State government for support.
