Khammam: Steps were being taken to develop Velugumatla Urban Park in Khammam as an attractive tourist destination for the people, said district Collector Muzammil Khan.
The Collector along with district forest officer Siddharth Vikram Singh visited the park on Monday. The Collector inspected the road construction work going on from the main road to the park.
Speaking on the occasion, Khan suggested that an attractive arch should be set up on the main road for the public to know about Velugumatla Urban Park. The road construction work should be done from both sides and the road construction work should be completed by March 15.
Boards should be displayed at the integrated collectorate bus stop to inform about the park and steps would be taken to ensure that vehicles were available from there to reach the park for the convenience of the visitors. Plans were being made to run a special bus service to the park.
Selfie points would be set up in the park to show the best views so that tourists would take photos and post them on social media with which the park could become popular. Plans should be prepared to develop a cycling track in the park and ensure that necessary bicycles were available, the Collector noted.
The surroundings of the park should be kept clean and arrangements have to be made for the public to organise ‘Vana Bhojanam’ in the park. Steps should be taken to ensure that the park’s canteen was fully plastic-free. Fencing around Velugumatla Park has to be erected, he added.
Public Health EE Ranjith, Khammam forest range officer G Nageswara Rao, Public Health AE Anitha and others were present.
