Hyderabad: Surgeons at KIMS Hospitals, Hyderabad, on Tuesday announced the successful treatment of patients suffering from localised prostate cancer and prostate enlargement using the cutting-edge Tulsa-Pro system, performed as a day-care procedure.

A total of 13 patients, including three foreign nationals from Bahrain, Dubai, and Mauritius, were successfully treated using the Tulsa-Pro (Transurethral Ultrasound Ablation Prostate) system — an MRI-guided, ultrasound-based treatment that eliminates the need for cuts, stitches, or prolonged hospital stays, according to a statement.

This is the first installation of its kind not just in India but in the entire Southeast Asia, said CMD, KIMS, Dr B Bhaskar Rao, who formally launched the advanced equipment on Tuesday.

“With Tulsa-Pro, we now offer the complete spectrum of prostate care, including traditional surgery, radiation therapy, robotic procedures, and now, an incision-less treatment,” Dr Bhaskar Rao said.
