Additional SP (Operations) Pankaj Paritosh launched a three-day mandal level volleyball competition at Cherla.
Kothagudem: A three-day mandal level volleyball competition has been organised by Cherla police to bring out the talent of the youth living in Maoist-affected areas.
Additional SP (Operations) Pankaj Paritosh and Bhadrachalam ASP Vikrant Kumar Singh participated in the inaugural ceremony. So far, teams from 49 villages have registered for the tournament that started on Wednesday. Players from Chhattisgarh villages have also been invited.
Paritosh Pankaj said that the youth living in agency areas should excel in sports along with their studies. Many youths stop their studies midway to earn livelihood. They should continue studies and excel in sports as well to achieve special recognition.
The rural youths should take Gongidi Trisha, who was born and raised in the agency area and recently showed her talent in women’s cricket and worked hard to help Team India win the World Cup, as an example, the additional SP said.
Sports and other programmes were being taken up at the directions of the SP B Rohith Raju to enable the youth living in the agency areas to showcase their talents. The police department has been working hard to provide facilities like education, medical care and transportation for the people of the agency area.
ASP Vikrant Kumar Singh said that the youth in agency areas should stay away from bad habits and cooperate with the development and welfare programmes undertaken by the police to make their future bright.
