Kothagudem police striving for tribal welfare: SP Rohith Raju

Kothagudem: The Kothagudem sub-division police celebrated the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples with a massive rally from the Kothagudem railway station premises to the Kothagudem Club.
Police officers, tribal leaders, residents and locals participated in the rally led by Kothagudem DSP Shaik Abdul Rahaman. Speaking at a meeting held later, Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju expressed his pleasure at organising the programme to mark World Tribal Day.
The district police were working to ensure that the tribal people living in Kothagudem, which has the largest tribal population in Telangana, excel in all fields. The police would focus on providing education, healthcare and transport facilities for tribals in remote agency areas.
Rohith Raju said sports complexes would be set up for the youth in agency villages, besides conducting training classes to help them secure jobs. Libraries would be established in every Assembly constituency headquarters for the benefit of agency youth.
Two mobile hospitals have been built at a cost of Rs 2 crore in the border villages of Chennapuram and Pusuguppa in Cherla mandal. A sports complex was built with Rs 2 crore at Dummugudem, and a two-kilometre road from Pusuguppa to the Chhattisgarh border was laid with Rs 3 crore.
Attracted by the rehabilitation policy of the Telangana government, over 300 Maoists have surrendered this year, the SP revealed. Tribals who excelled in jobs and academics were felicitated, and a lunch was hosted for the community.
SB Inspector Srinivas, Kothagudem two-town Inspector Pratap, Chunchupally CI Venkateshwarlu, Kothagudem one-town CI Karunakar, three-town CI Sivaprasad and others were present.
