Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress government of pushing Telangana into a full-blown water crisis, both in rural and urban areas. He said without lifting water from both Godavari and Krishna Rivers, the Congress government is making people suffer for both drinking and irrigation water.
Taking to X, Rama Rao said despite Krishna and Godavari Rivers receiving huge inflows, the State government failed to utilise a single drop, due to its sheer negligence. He said reservoirs and borewells were drying up, fields lying abandoned, and even drinking water needs were being ignored by the government. “There is no irrigation water in the villages and no drinking water in the cities,” he said.
The BRS working president criticised the Revanth Reddy government for abandoning the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and opening Kaleshwaram project gates without any planning. Citing the worsening situation, he said Hyderabad alone is now facing demand for 8,000 tankers a day to meet drinking water demand, with a two-day waiting period in many localities. Calling the Congress rule a curse on the people of Telangana, he warned that the current crisis reflects not just administrative failure but dangerous neglect.
