Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao castigated the Congress government, over a serious decline in humanitarian and emergency services under its rule in Telangana. Reacting to the recent incident in which family members were reportedly forced to carry a deceased person on their shoulders due to the absence of a hearse vehicle, he said the episode reflected the collapse of dignity and governance in the State.

Recalling the previous BRS regime led by K Chandrashekhar Rao, Rama Rao said dedicated vehicles were arranged to transport mortal remains so that even poor families could perform the last rites of their loved ones with dignity. “That was governance driven by humanity and compassion,” he remarked.

He questioned the Congress government’s priorities, alleging that while crores of rupees were being spent on publicity campaigns, political meetings, helicopter rides and election-related programmes, basic emergency services were being denied to the poor.
The BRS working president accused the ruling party of remaining consumed by political vendettas and election campaigning, while ignoring the hardships faced by ordinary people. The inability to provide even a dignified final journey to the poor was a matter of shame for the State administration, he said.

Terming the incident as not merely the suffering of a single family but a tragedy that shook the conscience of Telangana society, Rama Rao stated that the Congress government failed to uphold the dignity and welfare of the people.
