Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday called out the BJP, accusing it of hypocrisy and pseudo-nationalism. He came down heavily on BJP leaders for criticising the BRS which welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim order on the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025. He said such criticism only showed that the BJP had no respect for the Indian Constitution or the Supreme Court.
Taking to social media, Rama Rao said it was no surprise that BJP bhakts were rattled by the BRS stand on the court’s order, but reminded them that their disregard for the Constitution and the apex court exposed their double standards.
Recalling the horrific Pahalgam massacre where 26 innocent lives were lost due to Pakistan-sponsored terror less than five months ago, the BRS working president said the BJP government allowed cricket matches with Pakistan, despite strong protest from the bereaved families.
“The ruling BJP has no qualms about our national team playing cricket with the very country that is sponsoring terrorism on our soil,” he said, adding that even though the bereaved families of the Pahalgam massacre strongly opposed it, the Modi government went ahead and deceived crores of Indians by playing cricket with Pakistan.
“When BJP can allow cricket with Pakistan, why does it feel pain only when the BRS welcomes a Supreme Court verdict?” he questioned.
Rama Rao asserted that the BRS stood for true nationalism which was rooted in equality, inclusivity and respect for every citizen.
“For us, real nationalism means embracing every Indian equally, without looking at caste, creed, or religion. It means knowing the fine line between nationalism and jingoism,” he declared.
